On the day that B & A got married at the beautiful Night Yard in August 2021, I was both excited and nervous. The venue was beautifully arranged to the style that really fitted B & A (the bride) personality – elegant and natural. It was filled with the buzz of their family and friends brimming with joy and happiness.
Despite the picture perfect setting, it was hard not be distracted by their two beautiful children. The adorable littles ones were full of energy, running around the venue even during the ceremony. It was perfect and wholesome – just like B & A would have wanted. After the ceremony, whilst everyone else settled down and relaxed it was time for some much-needed alone time between the bride and groom (and me!). It was one of those moments where the light was so beautiful you can’t resist clicking away on the camera and I wasted no time getting to work to capture that wondrous moment during our shoot. I cannot compliment this beautiful couple enough; their shots were relaxed and natural with just the perfect balance of romance and airiness. I could not be happier with the results.
The location
The Night Yard is set in beautiful Kent countryside just outside historic Canterbury. Having had a quick peek on their website I arrived an hour early just to look around and scout the best locations. The vendor was also an absolute pleasure – knowledgeable and friendly. One of the most important things to do as a photographer is to understand the location and be prepared for anything, including the unpredictable weather in England!
One thing I love about this location is the versatility being both contemporary and modern. There is a centralised courtyard for those outdoor shots that make the bride and groom glow. The one thing I got super excited about was the glasshouse! As an architecture student in a past life, the hype for a stunning glasshouse is real! The open design means each corner is filled with light and perfect for capturing those oh-so-natural light and airy pictures.
